Sun and Snow in Morocco

We hired a car and went to Oukaimeden, which is about an hour and a half drive from Marrakech. We weren't quite too sure what to expect. However, the views on the way to the mountain were stunning. We soon reached the bottom of the mountain and were very suprised at the amount of snow and the height of the mountain. We were even more impressed as all of the lifts and t-bars were operating. Friends who had been previously weren't so lucky and resorted to walking up the mountain and skiing the short way down.
We set about renting our gear. We hired some boots and skis straight from the side of the road. Suprisingly, the boots fit, and the skis were not too bad, especially all for only 80dh.

Then it was time to hit the slopes. There was a bit of mayhem at the main base,
but we soon made our way to the big chairlift. The views from the top were amazing.

The conditions were a little icy, but in the shade there were some good spots. If only there were groomers...
Regardless, we had a great time and will return a few more times before the season is over.

Sights in the Souks

I love walking around the souks in the medina for the different sights and smells. If you take your time you can see some amazing colors, textures and patterns. I particularly like the souks for their rich brightness. Although the crowds may be noisy and the constant haggling is tiresome, I still like to wander.

I wonder if Dr Seuss was here before me?
